Kampala Metropolitan Police Net 38 Suspects in Two-Day Crackdown on Criminal Hotspots
KAMPALA, Uganda – The Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) has announced the arrest of 38 suspects following two separate disruptive operations targeting criminal hideouts in Entebbe and Mukono.
According to a police statement released on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the operations were aimed at dismantling hotspots believed to be harboring individuals involved in robbery, burglary, and drug abuse.
The largest of the two raids took place overnight on May 19 in the Entebbe Division. Officers conducted a coordinated sweep in the areas of Bendegere, Kasenyi, and Nakiwogo, resulting in the arrest of 31 suspects.
Authorities reported that the detained individuals were found in possession of suspected narcotic substances along with other undisclosed exhibits. They are currently being held at Entebbe Police Station as investigations continue.
In a separate operation conducted a day earlier, on May 18, police targeted known criminal black spots in Mukono District. Seven suspects were arrested from the areas of Jojo, Sonde, and Misindye within Goma Division. Those suspects have since been charged and are detained at Goma Police Station under the jurisdiction of Mukono Central Police Station (CPS), also awaiting prosecution.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the arrests and reaffirmed the unit’s commitment to public safety.
“Kampala Metropolitan Police remains committed to conducting sustained disruptive operations aimed at eliminating criminal elements and enhancing the safety and security of the public,” Owoyesigyire stated in the press release.
