Police Hunt Former Obsessions Manager Ronnie Mulindwa After Raid Uncovers Online Prostitution Ring
KAMPALA, Uganda – Security forces in Kampala are searching for Ronnie Mulindwa, a former manager of the Obsessions music group, following a raid on an alleged online prostitution and adult streaming operation in the city. Mulindwa is currently in hiding.
The operation, carried out by the Directorate of Crime Intelligence, led to the arrest of 27 young women who were found inside a building where they were allegedly being stripped and filmed for online streaming services. Investigators say the content was targeted at foreign audiences, primarily in Western countries.
According to police reports, Mulindwa was running a sophisticated “sumbie hawking” racket, recruiting young women from across Uganda, including Mukono, Kampala, Lyantonde, Wakiso, Masaka, and parts of Busoga. The women were then sold as sex escorts to wealthy men in hotels, apartments, and even abroad.
Further allegations indicate that Mulindwa recorded live sex videos of the women and sold them online. However, his operation began to unravel when he allegedly refused to pay the women, prompting them to alert the police.
Police say Mulindwa ran the scheme with two accomplices—identified as Martin Male and a woman known only as Zeisha. All three are currently on the run. A security guard found guarding the location has been arrested.
Among those detained at the scene was Vivian Gobera, identified by police as Mulindwa’s girlfriend. She reportedly told investigators that recruited women were assigned new names to prevent relatives and acquaintances from identifying them online.
Gobera also revealed that access to the live streams was deliberately blocked within Uganda and other East African countries, as the operation specifically targeted clients in Western nations.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachel Kawala confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that efforts to arrest Mulindwa and his alleged accomplices have been intensified.
“We have also arrested a security guard who was guarding the location,” Kawala said.
Police continue to urge anyone with information on Mulindwa’s whereabouts to come forward.
