Shayka: Swearing-in to 12th Parliament a Victory for Entebbe People
Entebbe, Uganda – The newly sworn-in Member of Parliament for Entebbe Municipality, Stephen Shayka, has described his inauguration into the 12th Parliament as a victory for the people of Entebbe, reaffirming that their voice has finally been heard.
Speaking shortly after taking the oath of office, Shayka said the moment demonstrates Uganda’s commitment to democracy and reflects the will of Entebbe’s electorate.
“My swearing into the 12th Parliament means victory for the people of Entebbe. It demonstrates democracy in Uganda and also shows that the voice of the people of Entebbe has been heard, and we shall represent according to our update,” Shayka remarked.
The legislator called for unity among all residents of Entebbe, regardless of their political affiliation, urging both opposition supporters and those in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to come together for the common good.
“So, I want to tell the people of Entebbe, whether in opposition or NRM, let’s unite and work together to see that we deliver to the manifesto of the National Resistance Movement under the leadership of His Excellency the President,” he said.
Shayka pledged to prioritise key service delivery areas, including education, healthcare, and road infrastructure, vowing to ensure these sectors meet the expectations of the people.
“We look forward to working with them, we look forward to unity, we look forward to checking up and seeing that the schools, the health sector, the roads – all these are done and fixed as the expectation of the people,” Shayka added.
The 12th Parliament was sworn in following the 2026 general elections, with lawmakers now tasked with oversight, legislation, and representation over the next five years.
