Ugandan Musicians’ Feud Turns Violent: King Saha Accuses Rival Pallaso of Machete Attack on His Car
KAMPALA, Uganda — A long-running feud between two of Uganda’s popular musicians took a dangerous turn late Sunday, with singer King Saha alleging that fellow artist Pallaso led a mob of about 20 men in a machete and stick attack on his vehicle.
King Saha, whose real name is David Kiganda, said the attack happened as he was driving to a performance in Kigangazi, Mukono district. Investigative journalist Tabz confirmed the incident via social media, posting photos that show the singer’s rear windshield smashed, a dented driver’s door, and debris scattered inside the vehicle bearing license plate U A 6411BH.
“Pallaso wants to kill me!” King Saha wrote on X (formerly Twitter) hours after the attack. In a separate post, he warned: “PALLASO bino byokola tojja kumalako Boi” — suggesting he will not be finished off by the alleged assault.
Escalating Feud
The Sunday attack marks a sharp escalation in a bitter rivalry that has simmered for years. Just 10 days earlier, the two musicians were involved in a violent clash at Supremacy Lounge in Kampala, where police were forced to fire warning shots to disperse the confrontation.
Journalist Tabz, who broke details of the latest incident, questioned Pallaso directly in a post: “Pallaso Iwaaki tovva kumwana wa bandi? Kilikusuula mu gaali!” — roughly translated as asking why Pallaso cannot leave another person’s child alone and what has gotten into him.
Calls for Action
Fans have flooded social media demanding immediate arrests, while Minister Balaam Barugahara has urged the two artists to reconcile before the situation claims lives.
No police statement had been issued as of Monday morning, and Pallaso has not yet publicly responded to the allegations.
