Security in Apac District Dismisses Alleged Gang Attack at Apac Seed Secondary School

APAC, Uganda – Security officials in Apac District have dismissed reports of a gang attack at Apac Seed Secondary School on Easter Sunday, clarifying that the incident was actually a clash between students and local youth that took place outside the school premises.
Initial claims suggested that five armed assailants attacked students within the school, leaving several injured. However, investigations have concluded that no attack occurred on school grounds.
According to Andrew Onyuk, the Apac Resident District Commissioner (RDC), the trouble stemmed from indiscipline among some students who sneaked out of school at night. He explained that after a talent show and evening activities organised by the school administration, a group of students left the premises and went to a nearby disco in the trading centre, where a misunderstanding with local youth escalated into a fight.
“The situation worsened when some youth reportedly followed the students towards the school, leading to injuries,” Onyuk said.
He further confirmed that police investigations have led to the arrest of several suspects.
James Keba, the school’s head teacher, stated that the school had held official entertainment activities which ended peacefully, and all students had been accounted for before the night’s incident occurred. He emphasised that there was no attack within the school.
Apac Seed Secondary School is a government-aided secondary school established in 2020.
